Storify is on-the-go. The social story-telling platform released its long-awaited iPad app on Wednesday, and it looks like a hit.
Just a few hours after its release, Storify broke into the top five social networking downloads for iPad. Storify allows users to combine all of their favorite social media: news articles, Twitter, and Facebook — to create and share their own story. Now, it’s mobile…and free.
Since its beginning, users have raved about how the drag-and-drop features of the curation tool would be perfect for the iPad platform. A blogger for Business Insider says it just goes to show — sharing info is now a piece of cake.
“With each year pushing content out to friends is getting easier…Finding new content is awesome. Dragging it around and redesigning it is mondo easy…”
The platform has attracted a pool of professionals, namely — journalists. Mashable points out — this is a smart move for the company if it wants to keep attracting that crowd.
“Going mobile makes sense for the two-year-old startup. Good reporters leave their desks — and if Storify wants to be a go-to reporting tool, it had better do the same.”
Poynter notes — the expansion should bring in more users, but there’s still some room for improvement.
“The app does not offer login via Twitter or Facebook like the website does … Facebook content is limited … The app has a landscape-orientation mode only, you can’t hold the iPad upright while you use it.”
As of Wednesday afternoon — Storify was number five on the list of top social networking apps for iPad. Newsy’s got an iPad app too — download the new version, featuring the ability to watch our videos offline.
