It’s Round Two for iPhone 5 rumors after tech blog BGR released a report Tuesday based on details from a quote “close source”. The site says the iPhone 5 will launch in fall 2012, and also reports …
“ … Apple is planning to use a rubber or plastic material … built into the new iPhone case. In all likelihood, this material will be … surrounding the front edge of the phone … it will join the glass iPhone face with a new aluminum back plate. It will also cover a redesigned antenna system that surrounds the device.”
If this is true – Popherald writes — this would mean a bigger screen than the current 4 and 4s model’s 3.5-inch screen.
“ … the new report is also saying that the iPhone 5 could be the first Apple smartphone that will include a 4-inch screen, if true then the iPhone 5 is the ‘worst’ nightmare of app developers because they will need to adjust the software to take advantage of the larger screen, and to avoid the pixel-y display.”
But, recall the circus of iPhone rumors this summer — many initial reports turned out to be bogus. So should we trust BGR? Tech blogs can’t seem to agree.
isource says BGR is simply telling us what we want to hear … but allgeek disagrees, saying any iPhone 5 rumor is, quote, “about as solid as Jello.”
In the end – macdaddynews sums it up — saying BGR has a checkered past, but the blog’s guess is as good as any, and grounded in sound logic.
“ … BGR was wrong on just about every rumor leading up to the release of the iPhone 4S … With that being said, I do think a fall of 2012 release for the next iPhone would be a good guess. … As far as a redesigned iPhone, I believe that is very likely also…”
